Music memorabilia

A couple more nice concert flyers turned up while sorting. The one above is for The Ramones at Manchester Academy on Oxford Road. The show took place on Thursday 5th December 1991 with supporting act The Honey, who I must confess I don’t remember! It’s very likely that we disappeared up the road for a curry and only headed down to the venue in time for The Ramones. By this time the band had sort of reached a touring level where they could have a decent income from gigs and merchandise but had entered that sort of limbo where they were unlikely to ever receive any wider recognition or indeed their dues. But we’d been going to see them since the late 1970s and I don’t recall them ever turning in a duff show, and Manchester always turned out in force to see them.

By complete contrast another black and white flyer, but from a concert I didn’t go to. Indeed I went to gigs at just about every Manchester venue but sadly never got to The Hacienda, as I wasn’t really into the Madchester scene music. But I did pick up the flyers when I saw them, and as with all the Factory ephemera they were a neat minimalist design of which this is typical. The Train Set? Not a name I know, but part of the mid-80s scene and apparently still gigging.
