What if… Top Of The Pops 1940?

top of the pops album 1940Along with the Top Of The Pops sleeve galleries, we ran a couple of “what if” sleeves, our take on how the covers might have looked if the series had begun earlier and carried on later. Keen TOTP’s man Terry Wilson enjoyed this idea and decided to push the series back into the 1940s with this edition, running at 78rpm and with the sort of generic paper sleeve most records were packaged in back then. I can only assume that serious music collectors ignored these release, and most got bought and broke by their teenage owners, as I’ve never come across one… Check the What If 1959 and 2000 covers on the site.
